Sculpting process
Here's a look at how each piece is made. My process ensures that every sculpture is a unique work of quality art that will stand the test of time. I put a lot of care in the making of each piece and I'm always using the best materials I can to bring the sculptures to life.
These are the materials I use to build the 'skeleton' of the sculpture. It is essential to make a good armature for the sculpture to be sturdy and durable. Here we have aluminum foil, different sizes of wires, masking tape and pliers. I also use hot glue or apoxie sculpt to secure things together.
The different clays I use. The sculpey brand is my favorite. I use 'super sculpey' the most (the beige one in the photo). I like using sculpey III also, it is softer and is good for making clay sketches or bas relief work. Cosclay is another polymer clay I sometimes use for thin and small parts since is stays flexible once baked! Finally, I use apoxie sculpt for securing armature parts together or make details on bases. It's a two part apoxie that cures to a rock hard finish.
My current favorite varnishes. Used on each sculpture to ensure good protection on each piece. The glossy one is used on specific parts that need a realistic 'wet' look, like eyes.
